Any one done mega amount of miles in a BMW Mini?

also longest use of a clutch?

My June 2012 bought in October 2013, with 7200 on clock now has 89k.....looks to me to easily get to over 200k.....but would like to know what decent miles any one has had yet?

Good to hear of these high mileage cars - although no doubt the interiors all rattle like a bag of spanners!

It does, but severity depends upon the road surface.

It's certainly no worse than the R53 I had in 2003, nor the R52 I had in 2005.

It's like "being home" after ten years away, nice steering feedback, flat cornering etc.

Everything my Audi company car isn't.......

If you go to the end of the thread, it's now 600k smile On its original exhaust, starter, shocks, & struts.

Obviously nice gentle motorway miles, but still impressive.

As an aside, I have to say MINI2 is an absolute mess these days, not like it was "back in the the day", I joined in 2002 and it was a pleasure to use, not any longer......

I do know the guy who started it sold out to an internet forum co, boy how the quality has dropped!

As Jon posted, HWS has over 600k on his.

If you go over to NAM (the only MINI forum worth visiting these days apart from MINI Torque) there are loads that are well over 300k, and over 200k isn't uncommon.

I remember you on there I think... Same user name?

I was a moderator on there when Paul sold out to Autoforums, it all went down hill very quickly. That's when a few of us set up totalmini, which I'm no longer part of, and itself has also gone steadily downhill.

Yes, all the Mini forums seem dreadful which is a shame given the number of owners that are out there!

That's the problem... You can't have one MINI forum that caters for everyone. For example, try posting on MiniTorque that you've just put a new sticker, or bonnet stripes on your car - go on, I dare you tongue out

Conversely, people in certain groups on facebook (LuxeMini, Miniacs etc) seem to get really excited by stickers, and would probably think you're a moron for considering forged engine internals over a cool custom roof decal.

You can't please everyone - hence why we have so many breakaway groups that all like their little niches in life.

talking about stripes and stuff....how do you like the roof on mine?

Looks better with it's black alloys on (shown are the winter tyres and steel wheels)

Sorry no other mods..... frown car is strictly for teaching learners in, but wanted it to look different)

Thread resurrection, but thought be good to hear who else has some decent mileage on their Mini's.

My R56 1.4 MINI 'First' is on 145,000 miles now, just stuck it's first chain and tensioner on it, hopefully keep me mobile for couple more years before I trade it in, used as a 2nd car for work/motorway work. Still on original clutch.

My R55 Cooper S is on 110k but has had a major engine rebuild.

What was the reason for this out of interest?

To add, my 17-year old daughter has now bought her first car and guess what, it’s a MINI!

It has a mere 91k on the clock and drives “like a MINI”.

Here it is sat on its winter wheels

Nice... biggrin

I have an R53 back in the fleet... A December 2002 Cooper S with John Cooper Works Tuning Kit No. 4. It was the original John Cooper Garages demonstrator, and appeared in all the mags at the time, and on Top Gear TV with Hammond.

Has just 83k miles on the clock.
