Before disconnecting radio from power to install parrot system, thought I'd make sure there was a radio code in the vehicle handbooks. Couldn't find a code so went to BMW dealer to see if they had one on the database record and the guy said there was no code on record for the vehicle -some don't have one.The handbook doesn't make any reference to radio codes but just wanted to double check before I go any further. Has anyone had experience disconnecting and reconnecting radio without the need for a code. ('06 cooper convertible , radio is below and separate from speedo .) Cheers

No code as such - I was told by a dealer when I bought my R53 that each radio is coded to the chassis number, and would only work in the specific car, but that's obviously tosh as I swapped my radio out for an upgraded OEM one and had no issues

Thanks,I don't think Ive had a car for years with no radio code ( well not for the last 30 years or so ). Probably makes sense not to bother nowadays as I don't think car stereo theft is that common. Not like the days of my youth when you couldn't go in a pub without being offered a hooky Panasonic cassette radio or graphic equaliser !! Cheers again.
