Late 2016 according to MotoringFile:
"We’ll have to wait a bit longer for the JCW Clubman which is currently scheduled to begin production in November of 2016 as a 2017 model."

Full article here; looks like it will use the ALL4 system.

Thanks for that.

I must say that I love my wife's Cooper Clubman - she's had it a couple of months now, and if this new JCW version has the ALL4 system and the rumoured 300bhp - I would absolutely buy one.

Power for the JCW will be the same as the current hatch JCW (about 230 bhp) giving similar performance; the greater traction will be counteracted by the heavier body.

I think the 300 figure has come from the hybrid Clubman and is about halfway between power figures for the 225xe (a plug-in hybrid with which the Clubman shares the UKL2 platform) and the i8. They both have the 1.5 litre three-cylinder ICE, so it's a near certainty that the hybrid Clubman will use that ICE. It would certainly be cheaper for BMW to go with the 225xe drivetrain, but BMW might see a need for a more aggressive map/turbo on the more performance oriented Clubman. Thus the magic 300 bhp (combined) figure of 210-ish from the ICE driving the front wheels and 87 from the electric motor driving the rear wheels. My prediction is that the hybrid will be more FWD oriented than the JCW ALL4, ~150kg heavier and auto only. If that's the case then a manual JCW would be the more interactive of the two, despite the lower headline power figure.

Thanks again for that. I have zero knowledge of hybrids and whilst I understand it is the future, am a die hard old fashioned petrol head biggrin

As you say - the JCW certainly sounds the way to go if non-hybrid will be the more "interactive" (fun ?) - But I have to now ask myself do I really need the extra space and ALL4 when we already have a new Cooper Clubman (2WD), when I could get a nice little 3 door JCW with tuning kit and bluetooth exhaust ? More fun again !
