R55 Cooper S exhaust not as poppy and bangy as hoped!
Discussion
I know it's fairly computer generated, but we took one cooper s on a test drive and had lots of lovely pops and bangs from the exhaust on the overrun. However, for various reasons, we didn't buy that car and went for a different cooper s. Everything seems to be in good condition, and it has just has a service with a MINI dealer including some sort of flush to the system.
However, this one has nowhere near the same amount of noise with the sport button pressed. Any clues as to what may be the cause of this? I've read somewhere about a software change that could've taken place, but the service department didn't seem to understand what I was talking about! Otherwise, can anyone recommend a new exhaust system with better noise, but not too shouty?!

I have an early (2007) R55 and it is fairly poppy and bangy. It does seem fairly random when it decides to sound good though. 'Normally' this happens more during the first ten minutes of driving and more pronounced on the up change from second to third giving a few more revs than normal (guessing around 4k....).
Then randomly I will get a pop during normal changes. Sometimes they are loud and embarrassing and other times they are subtle.
