Contemplating a modestly spec'd JCW next (won't be ordering for a few months yet). I expected the mini dealers to be similar to BMW, where 10% discount is a given with a lot more possible most of the time. After poking about the mini forums it's actually pretty hard to find any posts disclosing discounts people have got.

So I was wondering if anyone here could give an idea of what a reasonable target is for discount on minis.

I'm not sure your get 10% unless the dealer is desperate the theory is the JCW isn't selling so theirs bigger discounts available on them

Having just bought Cooper they don't want to give away much

Sorry, I wasn't that clear. I meant most BMW dealers give 10% on most cars without trying. I have no experience of Mini.

The dealers around here seem to be offering a £1500 deposit contribution on JCW but I've always treated advertised contributions as a starting point. GFV on finance also seem a bit low. Valuing a JCW at £8k - £9k after 4 years. 4 year old R56 JCWs are easily over that.

As has been said, unless they are struggling to shift a specific car then you'll struggle to get a massive discount. It's a premium brand that isn't in the habit of offering the cars silly cheap. A dealer for another marque may chop loads off the price to stop you going elsewhere but it's unlikely a mini dealer will.

How odd. Seems they are completely different to their Bavarian siblings in this regard.

Edit.

Just spoke to the first dealer. First quote on a spec coming in at £26,685 been offered a discount of £2,716 so over 10%.

Was that on a new factory build or one that's already been built?

Not much doing when I was hunting Cooper S's a few months ago. Even nearly new cars at strong money didn't stay advertised for long.
