2004 Cooper S issues (video)
Discussion
This is my neighbours car. Went into limp mode when driving and engine revs were erratic.
Now it starts and runs bad, supercharger whines, sounds like it misfires and the revs have a mind of their own.
I don't have an OBD fault code reader (just a bluetooth adapter) and I'm sure it's only the later ones you can get the hidden menu (I think).
This video shows what it's like on startup, no throttle is being applied, started and left on idle.

Normally it'd just go the garage but money and logistical issues will mean it has to wait over a week and he can't work.
Thanks for any suggestions in advance

A bluetooth OBDII tool off ebay (£15 or so) and Torque on an Android phone will read the fault codes for you.
If you're near Aberdeen I can do it for you if you want.
I would start with replacing the MAP sensor, on the front of the inlet manifold, even if you don't get the codes read. A common fault, and a cheap £15 fix.

Have a read of this thread - it doesn't give a resolution, but lots of things to be checking...

That's really good, I appreciate that. I'll check the ABS too and the wiring loom (that seems like poor design).http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f26/mini-jcw-r53-r...
