Just a wee warning about the TLC service packs.

My first one ran out...fine but then for £275 i "bought" another couple of years worth or up to 80k what ever came first....sounds simple and straight forward....

My car required an inspection service at 76k last week....this car works very hard as a learner car, as well as doing "Fleet work" and use by me!

They said that it was due it's second brake fluid change in March 2107....I pointed out that by the miles i am doing i will hit 80k by about early April, therefore can they do the brake fluid change along with the inspection service....so it's a year early.....but then means i don't have to change it until Feb/March 2018

They refused saying it can only be done according to the service schedule....and the small print confirms this.....they will only do stuff when the engine management says it requires it.

I asked them to changed the oil and filter on this service owing to the work this car does and they refused to also tick the box for an oil change as it "didn't require" it for this service!....even though it has had one!....my receipt shows it has had one....but a nice neat service book proves and shows the owner cares.........hey hum...!

read the small print! I may not have bought the pack if I was not going to get what I thought I was!

I have TLC XL and have the oil changed yearly whether the obc says it needs doing or not, obviously I pay extra for that, but no issues with having it done or the book ticked to show its been done.

You know you can adjust all the service dates and miles on the on board computer by going through the menus (watch guide on youtube), just set it to need its service early on the obc and show them again if that is all they base this on.

When you say they refused to tick the box in the service book for an oil change, do you mean they ticked "inspection" and not "oil"? If so, that's correct. BMW/MINI do oil service OR inspection service. An inspection service always includes an oil change, but it's had an "inspection service", and not merely an "oil change service".

It goes Oil, Inspection 1, Oil, Inspection 2, and then repeats,

no. They refused to tick oil as it was an inspection service, but I said you changed the oil....so it was done....so it should be ticked....just petty, I have a receipt that shows it was done....but would look better in the book!

I think they've done what they're meant to do in that case. It has had an inspection service, so they've ticked inspection. If you check in the book what an inspection service is, changing the oil is a part of it.
If they'd ticked oil AND inspection, technically they'd have had to change to oil twice; once for the inspection service and again for the oil service.

The oil, inspection 1 and inspection 2 services are either/or. If they do an inspection 2 they won't tick oil or inspection 1.
