Its a 58 plate jcw

When i am driving it is ok but at idle it stutters at lower revs than usual (500-1000) and stalls sometimes

Its still under warrenty so booking in but they charge 79 diagnostic and then only get that back if under warrenty

Wondering how likely it is this covered or if not then am i better taking to a good indie

Most probably the HFPF - High Pressure Fuel Pump.

Does it takes a few extra turns to start as well?

Thanks for replies

Yes starting is a bit less enthusiastic than usual

If so is this covered under warranty?

I managed to get a 25% contribution from MINI. I have the driveline warranty from MINI, which only cover the engine and gearbox. So some goodwill.

BMW US warrants the HFPF for 10 years and 100k AFAIK.

Yep, HPFP.

They're not cheap anymore, went from circa £220+VAT to £850+VAT not long back!

I had mine replaced at Solihull MINI.

The full price was around £400 fitted in July last year.

At those prices I'm glad I've hoarded a spare in the garage.

So i asked mini if the hpfp is covered under warrenty should that be the issue

Their reply is you beed to bring the car in for an 80/hr diagnostic to find out the issue. I asked drmirectly if it is the hpfp that has failed is it covered and they will not answer.

Mine was diagnosed at home by the MINI Field tech.

It was booked in at Solihull MINI, they confirmed it. No diagnostic charge iirc.

I know of people that paid the "diagnostic fee" on 2003/04 Mini's and had their PAS Pump done under warranty.
