Hello guys,

I think I need a new battery for my car. It's a 2007 cooper s, so no stop start. I've been searching on the web but can't really see any clear advice on what I should do.

Just found this thread.

Could anyone recommend me a battery, please? Cheap without being rubbish!

From searching around, I can't tell if anything actually does need to be reset on the computer or not? I've read people say the dealer lets the car know it has a new battery?

I guess I'm looking for the cheapest way to replace the battery, DIY style! Some definite advice would be brilliant!

Thank you!

I think the battery does need to be matched to the car in as much its charged capacity, my car used to have welcome lights when unlocking in auto light mode, I had issues last year when a gadget flattened the battery, since then after charge it sometimes flashed up a "increased battery discharge " message, and the welcome lights stopped working. Battery has been fully charged since and no more messages, but still the welcome lights don't work, this is a feature alongside other battery saving measures these cars do, stop start will no longer function, hrw also stops if the monitoring system detects less than ideal values in order to at least allow the car to start, I hoped there was an easier way to match up the charged state to the cars system, but seems not.

Thanks for the replies guys! I really do appreciate them, sorry I've been slow replying with Christmas it went out of my head and I haven't done anything about the battery yet ... I hope it doesn't leave me stranded. I'm thinking my best option is to buy a battery, and then get an independent mini garage to fit it for me?
I have tried googling but I can't settle on a battery, if anyone has a battery recommendation I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!
