Please stop my wipers squeaking!

Help!
We have a 2015 Cooper S.
It is perfect in every way except the wipers squeak.
I had changed the blades and it seemed OK for a few days then the noise returned.
We've driven two hours in the rain today and nearly went bonkers.
Could it be something on the windscreen or the mechanism?

You probably need to change the angle of attack on the blades,usually done by brute force and ignorance; ie. change the angle of the blade on the screen by bending the arm a bit at a time. You may need several attempts.

Stop the wipers in the middle of their sweep/centre of the windscreen. Use an adjustable spanner on the flat part of the wiper arm to twist the wiper arm enough to bring the wiper blade to a right angle with the windscreen.

Interesting - have this issue with at least 2 cars I currently run, and neither are minis.

I have this problem, I use car washes a lot and I'm convinced it's something in the shampoo. Have you tried polishing the glass with a decent Polish (not glass cleaner)

The wife's car did suffer this problem; first with Bosch blades, and then with Bluecol. I tried cleaning the glass; a scourer over the blade surface and even checked the wiper arm angles...

In the end, it was a pair of OE replacement wipers (which were surprisingly not exorbitant) that solved the issue.

Thanks for the advice. I suspect the angle of attack. I will talk to the dealer as it is new car.

Now booked in for MINI to fix.
The car is one of the first 5 door hatchbacks so I'm interested to know if this is a little gremlin.

Change the wipers as now any crud present on the windscreen will have transferred to your new wipers. Thoroughly, completely thoroughly, clean the windscreen. I once had to use WD40 and newspaper to refresh an S8 'screen.

I know its been some time...but I have same problem with my 5 door mini cooper, likewise 2015. Been in to dealer several times with no solution. In again in a few weeks. Did you find a solution?

I bet you its nothing to do with the blades against the screen. Prove it by lifting both wiper arms away from the screen, and turning them on. I bet the sound still persists!

The mechanism needs greasing. Try some spray on white grease around the arm pivot. Solved my squeaky wipers,,, (2014 F56 Cooper D)

Do you actually mean squeek? My Volvo used to make a sort of knock sound when the drivers wiper reached the end of travel, and was just about in contact with the front offside pillar (top of blade only).

Changed blade, sorted.
