Anyone gone from an R56 JCW to an R56 JCW GP?
Discussion
I've currently got a 58 plate R56 JCW and am thinking of upgrading to the GP. I haven't test driven the GP yet, just wondering if there's a big noticeable difference? I know what all the differences are, adj coil overs, increased turbo pressure, lighter etc etc, just wondered if anyone else has done the same?
Cheers

I know someone who went from an R58 JCW to a R56 GP.
They absolutely love the GP and even admitting that they don't miss some of the mod-cons you see on the R58.
I think despite the modest power difference between a JCW and the GP, it's how the whole package feels together that will make the biggest difference.

Went from R56 JCW to a GP. It's a very different car as it is half race and half road car. Makes you drive everywhere as if you're on a qualifying lap. Much more fun to drive but downside is that the ride is a little harder and the lack of back seats make it a bit noisier. I've also got an F56 Cooper S which is comparatively boring to drive but is comfortable and quiet.
did you get one? I've gone from an R58 SD..
to a GP. That is a whole world of difference, quite lucky to still have both for the time being - When I first got the SD I thought it was quite a stiff little car... It feels like I'm driving a bloody Jag now! albeit one that corners rather nicely.
I do miss some of the toys in the GP mind you, one of the subtle mods that I'm tempted to do is adding the multifunction wheel centre, it adds cruise control and simple volume and stereo options, on a car that you really do need to hold onto with both hands at times, I do think it was a strange omission ! I couldn't obviously comment on the difference between a JCW and the GP, funnily enough I went straight to the GP as I heard the jcws can be a little crashy and very hard, whereas the Bilsteins while being bloody firm do a reasonable job of cushioning my non arse!

Hi Lestiq,
I haven't got the GP yet but am still considering to be honest. My JCW is now up on the classifieds though.
I also had an SD so my journey would be SD - JCW - GP!
The SD felt really torquey compared to the JCW, when i first drove the JCW (after I bought it) it felt slower weirdly enough. But once you get used to the way the JCW drives, its definitely faster.
Cheers
