I have a well specced 2005 JCW in Black Eye Purple, 55,000 miles as my 'fun' car.

I am toying with selling as the ride isn't doing my ageing (60) back any favours (wy wife doesn't want to lose the back up of RFT's sadly and I am not in a brownie point position to argue).
Having had a week in a surprisingly nice normal Alfa Giulietta in Italy, my first drive out yesterday on the Sussex and Kent roads was really jarring.

I bought it privately two years ago so presumed it would have dropped in value.
I have had a look on PH and Autotrader and...
a) there are hardly any for sale. Is there a shortage?
b) they seem to be asking for the same price I paid for it - around £5700.

Are they all wishful thinking or are they holding or going up in value?
Asking prices seem to range between £5500 and £6500+.

The alternative is finding an inexpensive way to soften the ride without wrecking the handling.
When I changed the RFT's on my old 130i, it was better but still a bit crashy.

Ditch the runflats (just don't tell the wife!) I actually went down to 40 series from 45 and it still improved massively!

or go up a profile step when you next change your tyres?

Softer springs/adjustable dampers?

I don't know what size the alloys are, but could you sell the presumably 17" wheels and buy another second hand set of 16" alloys. Improve the ride and handling and you can still have the runflats??

Shouldn't cost too much ( in fact you may come out better?)

Ha ha CO200 - won't get that past her, for sure.

I'm on 17's so mid tolerable.
I'm probably going to hang fire for a bit then hope the rft's wear out reasonably quickly but I'm only doing about 3k a year in the JCW.

Think the JCW won't fit sub-17" as the brakes are larger?

You could try winter tyres as an excuse for a new set. Or say you need some wheels and 888s for track days/hill climbing, and then just 'forget' to swap back to the run-flats between events.

Not sure saying I want to do track days is going to win me anything smile
I've had a couple of drives in the last week and am falling back in love with the car again. You just have to drive like a cyclist and lurch round the potholes without warning.
I just need to scour the country for some decent road surfaces.
