Out of the blue the hatch on my Mini will only open using the remote function on the key and not manually. Anyone know what may have caused it? I looked in the manual and it doesn't appear that the settings allow this to happen.
Water has got into the switch through the boot handle and corroded the connections, its a common issue, can be repaired sometimes by stripping it down, but usually the assembly needs replacement.
The switch itself I believe, I think if you take the inner tailgate panel off to get to the lock you might see the trouble and can clean it up or see what needs replacement. I do know its a common problem though.
