Noisy Air Con...high idle?

Bought the Mrs a nice Mini One auto. 2004 covered 23k. The revs idle at just under 1k which seems high to me. Normal? When I press the air con button I can hear the compressor engage but it's really loud at idle again. Only blows cold after a few minutes and curiously I can only feel the cooled air blowing from the two right hand vents. The left two just seem to blow air that's not ac chilled. I'm hoping this is nothing major any ideas here ?
On another note the standard CD player has taken a liking to a CD left in by previous owner. It won't eject it though it will play it. Common fault? Easy fix or needs a new unit ?
