Engine management light on, O2 sensor
Discussion
Hi guys
Need some help, my GFs 1.4 mini one (2007) has recently put the engine management light on, every now and then it will hesitate under acceleration and/or judder
I took it to a friend just to get the code read and he said the O2 readings are all over the show, should be about 1v and this is around 3.5v+
I was thinking it was just a case of replacing the sensor but he said last time they had this problem they replaced the sensor and it still had the problem... Apparently it needed a software update due to a crash or something which sounds worrying.
Obviously don't want to spent 160 quid on a new sensor to achieve nothing, has anyone come across this before??

I'd also look at the coils, a failure in one can cause the engine management light to come on. If this is the case the advice would be to replace all (I think it is one per cylinder). If the light is amber it means that you can drive it home, if red stop can call for help.
When the light comes on with the engine running do you switch it off as soon as safe? Try this and switch it off for a few minutes then back on. This can help temporarily rest problem.
