Both cars are on the short list for my next company car due soon. Due to the low price I can add a stack of options.

My head says SD for the bik saving, around 30 quid pm versus the S. And maybe 50 quid pm on fuel based on 12k personal miles a year.

I used to own an R56 Cooper S and loved it.

I just can't find any reviews of the 3 door Cooper SD hatch...

Keen on hearing from anyone with personal experience of either, especially the F56 SD...

Just bought the wife a F56 SD.
She does 1k miles a month commuting and previously had a 2litre 3 series coupe.
When we were looking to change we looked at the new 4 series but they were just way too much money so went to the Mini dealer next door.

We were given the demo SD for a full day as I wasn't really convinced about buying a diesel.
This extended test really changed my mind on this.Yes a petrol S may be a few tenths quicker but in real day to day driving the SD is
an absolute hoot.Overtaking is effortless in just about any gear due to the torque,on the twisties you just need to be a bit more cautious
with the right foot as it does have a bit of torque steer but all in all a fine wee steer. My wife really likes it and is currently returning
54mpg on her daily run which combines bypass and town driving.
The best advice I can give you is go and try one then you will know if it is for you, forgot to mention the first year road tax is free and then only £20 a year!!!!!.My Z4M roadster used to cost £500 a year which is why I no longer have it.

Thanks.

Still a bit torn. I've asked the lease co. we use to sort a demo on an SD out. I'll let you know how I get on!
