Is it just the cold weather?

Over the last couple of days my Mini One petrol will not idle, it just dies. I can manage so long as it's in gear there's no problem but if I take too long on a down change it will stall. Then after about 15 minutes driving if I turn the ignition off and then start the engine again it will idle normally. Any ideas what might be causing this?
