How does the real world performance of these compare with an r53? I was quite surprised following a new cooper (just a) down a slip road the other day, he caught me napping in the wrong gear, took a while for me to real him in.
I really like it; the gearbox is nice, steering is firm but not as much feedback as I'd like. The reviews rave about the engine but I can't say it feels as special as some have said - but I haven't driven it in anger yet and I am used to cars with considerably more oomph. That said I drove home through the Lake District and it was a great drive. Once I get used to the power delivery I think it will be a really fun car.
It's got 18"s on it and the ride is fairly firm but certainly no bone shaker. I drove home doing over 300miles - 75 through the Lakes and the remainder on the motorway - non stop for nearly six hours (bad traffic) and I felt like I could have done the journey back again straight away. Very impressed by the level of comfort - especially for such a small car.
Huge amounts of technology in it too that quite frankly make the Continental GT look antiquated!
I will update once I've had a good run.
