Hi all, wee problem with cooper s r53 02 plate, bought at hopefully less than the price i could sell it for parts so hopefully not too much to sort. It was very hard to get into first or second when stationary or at very slow speeds, Sat on the driveway and pushed clutch to the floor as far as it would go and gear change fine whilst sat still engine running, then nothing, pedal to floor, and now all floppy like the pedal is no longer connected to anything at all, what on earth have i done?? any suggestions??

On a lot of cars that'd point to clutch cylinder failure, normally slave so no big deal. I won't pretend I know if it's the same on an R53 though.

Further look in the light this morning, car goes into gear absolutely fine, but clutch stays to the floor, same with car running and not running, any ideas??

Still sounds like the slave cylinder, it's a £30ish part and by all accounts easy to fit. You just have to be careful to bleed the system the right way apparently.
