Mini Cooper 2010 Oil leak

Hi all

I have just confirmed what I have thought for a few weeks. My wife's 2010 Mini Cooper has a small oil leak somewhare at the rear of the engine (drivers side).Does'nt do it everytime it's used.
only 17000 miles from new and 1 month out of 3 year warranty. will be ringing dealer Monday but thought i'd put it out there to see if anyone else has had this.

Was it a big fix do you know as i think i might have battle on my hands with the dealer as is just out of Manufatures warranty ad was give an extended 4 month warranty but not a Mini dealership

Not really known, as it was under warranty. But maybe this is a common failure ?

I've read somewhere that there's a sensor wire that comes from the sump which can leak oil from the wires protective shroud. The secretary where I work had what I believe is this fault, hers was still in warranty. The description you gave sounds very similar i.e back of the engine and drivers side.

Thanks - will bear it in mind - booked in with dealer to take s look next week but if they want to charge me i'll it to the lad i normally use

BEEN TO THE DEALERS YESTERDAY - DIAGNOSED AS OIL PRESSURE CENSOR/SWITCH - CHEAP PART AND QUICK FIT - NOT A MINI DEALERSHIP SO RE BOOKED FOR NEXT THURSDAY SO HOPEFULLY SHOULD BE OK AFTER THSAT
