MCS R56 Nav problem - it's lost!

Mini Cooper S R56 2007 Factory Fit Sat Nav Problem
Hi all
Wondering if anyone has had problems like mine with their nav and can give me any pointers, please?
The nav is ‘lost’. If I have the map on screen whilst driving around North Yorks it shows me in Scotland, if I ask it for a route it shows it from where it THINKS it is (100’s of miles from where I am).
I can’t find any re-set programme in the menu.
Some web research suggests a new antenna might be needed.
My MINI dealer said a new HIP (Host Independent Positioning) module might be needed, £335.25 including coding to the car. I might have gone with that straight away except that he then started saying words to the effect of that might not fix it sir, then we’d have to look at the next thing …
Please let me know if you’ve sorted out anything similar in a MINI or Beemer.
