My niece collared me last night informing me that her windscreen washers have stopped working. The pump is operating, and there's fluid in the tank.
I'm thinking it's the check valve passing causing air into the line.

I went to BMW today to buy a check v/v (cheap repair). The parts guy informed me that the whole Tube from the washer bottle to the wipers had to be replaced.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

The car is a 2007 Mini Cooper.

What's the weather like there? Could they just be frozen?

I would take the pipe off at each junction and see if you can get water. You can then know what is causing the problem. I would look to get the parts second hand as this is not a normal fault.

First thing to do, is get a small pin and carefully find the hole that the water squirts out from.
Stick the pin in there, then try the spray again.

With all this bad weather recently it's probably got clod up with dirt.

Good Luck

Well, after an inspection today there is a one way tee piece valve, the parts guy got it wrong, but this isn't the problem.

I took off the tee piece check v/v, seemed to be fine, then the small hose all the way to the bottom of the washer bottle, no blockages, the pump sounds like it's working ok but there is nothing coming out.

I think the pump must be blocked or damaged in some way. Looks like a new pump is in order...
