Convertible Roof Problem
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I'm posting this on behalf of the mother-in-law as she has recently had a problem with the roof on her 54 plate cooper s.
To start with the roof wouldn't go past the half way point despite the usual messing around with the parcel shelf etc. so we told her to stop pressing the button while we try and find out what the problem is. Of course being a stubborn old mule she didn't listen and kept trying it until something eventually snapped. Now the roof will only begin to open on the left hand side and buckles up slightly on the drivers side. Managed to get a local mechanic to have a look at it and he eventually at least managed to get it to lay almost flat.
Has anyone else suffered a similar problem and if so what did you do?
I'm reluctant to tell her to take it to BMW as I'm fearful she will get ripped off. Does anyone know any specialists in the Southend/Essex area that might be able to sort it at a reasonable rate?
Cheers in advance for your help.
Milton

Hi
I believe MINI now do a kit for this fault as it is quite a common problem before it was noted by the manufacturer the only way round it would be a new roof which would be ££££'s but speak to your local dealer and get them to have a quick look at it as they'll more thab likely know the fault straight away
