All of the coolant has decided to empty itself in the passenger footwell of my Mini R53. Lucky enough the car never over heated but the RAC man said its the internal radiator that's gone.

Is this a big job or could in be a pipe or something small that has broken?

With a car, you start off with the heater matrix, and build everything around it!

It's usually quite labour intensive to change it

Hi I work for 1320mini and have change a few heater matrix and they aren't to bad, it's just the clips that are the bad bit, I would say its about an hour- hour and a half to do. Hope this helps.

My mechanic managed to fix on Monday. Ended up being a simple fix and only took him 90mins to complete. He reckons the wrong coolant had been added previously and it had corroded the matrix.

Just the A/C to get re-gassed now.

Also check the low speed cooling fan is cutting in. If it isn't then the high speed cuts in at 107 degrees, which means your engine is running hot a lot of the time yet often the temp guage never goes over halfway. A few people have had failed matrix units from this....
