Well, tomorrow I try to buy my first ever Bentley, a 2004 GT, Tempest with cream/blue leather, with 43,000 and at £38000. Great if unsual colour combo and the whole fanily are very excited. Full Bentley History
The car is for sale by an Independent dealer and so i would welcome any pearls of wisdom. Is there anything in particular I should look for ?
This is a big deal for us and so I want to be as informed as possible.
Thank you
Marc

Check the parking brake works correctly, all the sections light up on the high level brakelight in the rear window, there are no warning lights esp airbag on the dash, check for damp carpets front and rear esp in the rear by the rear seats, check tyres are okay-they are expensive to replace and just a good check around the vehicle paintwork, service history(make sure the big service has been done),oh and check the rear spoiler raises and lowers correctly.
Simple preventitive maintenance:- Regularly check the drain holes under the bonnet in the scuttle area adjacent to the fuse box.If they are parked near to trees, the usual leaves; twigs etc., can quickly cause problems. VERY expensive to fix if water damages the loom- and so easy to prevent. Same applies to the petrol filler cap recess. One small drain hole in the bottom left hand corner can easily be blocked- and again easy to check.
If the car is left unused for a few days the batteries will drain. Buy a good trickle charger (www.ctek.com) and you will not have a problem. I let mine drop to an unacceptable level with the result that the whole infotainment system shut down. I had to reboot the whole lot to restore the features.
I hope the couple of tips are of some interest. All the very best with your new toy- You will not be disappointed.
