Great Offer.
I have a 2000 Bentley Continental R Mulliner. Two questions

1. The sensor on the automatic headlight function has gone. Is there a replacement available please.
2. Will the current jewelled filler cap fit my car. The plastic one is cr*p
3. any idea how many of my car were made in RHD

I have tried Bentley Cardifff without success.

Thanks for your help

Hi. I had a 2001 Conti R Mulliner but did not have auto headlight sensors.Every one will give you a different answer on build numbers,in fact i asked Bentley Motors how many RHD Mulliners were built and they didnt know exactly---very odd,but the common answer is about 160.Outstandingly beautiful car but lots of shortcomings.head gaskets failing are more common than is generally admitted.good way to blow £4500.Also make sure you have had the 6 year hydraulic service.another £4-5000. Happy motoring. Harry.

I have had the car for 3 years and all servicing is up to date including the hydraulic service.
The only info on production numbers i s at

http://www.rrab.com/bcontr.htm

Exactly the same numbers are quoted by Wikipedia but to me the "Le Mans " number of 131 looks a bit high. If the 46 is right for the Mulliner i would like to know how many RHD drives were produced. I have a name at Bentley from the RREC and I will give them a ring after the holiday and report back.

Hello edar, can you tell me wether or not part of a full service on a Continental GT is the blowing out of all the water ducts?

Hello Therevday.

With regards to the water drains. Point 35 on the Bentley service instruction sheet reads 'Check that all body drains are free from obstruction and correct as necessary'

Have you got issues with water on the main electrical splice or water in the fuel filler cap...?

Regards.

Hi. On my Continental GT the bonnet warning light stays on after the bonnet has been properly shut. Not sure where the sensor is to check. Any ideas?

If the bonnet light stays on once the bonnet is closed, I would suspect the
bonnet catches are faulty. This comes as a complete instulation kit from Bentley.
By doing some stipping of the front panel you can check the connections, however,
I suspect you will find all the electrical connections to be on order.

Hope this helps.

Hello Blackpool rocker, Thank you for your advice. My girlfriends 05 GT had a full service at a main dealer, within a few weeks after she started noticing the car was condensating inside. it was so bad that she would leave the car for ten minutes and all the windows where misted up.The car went back to the main dealer to see what the cause of this was.The dealer said the boot floor was damp and the water ways under the spoiler where blocked.I then asked the question that I asked here.Their reply was all cars are different and it takes them a while to learn the little niggles with each car. They then removed the back seat and shelf, dryed them out refitted and charged a fortune!!! I was convinced it had to be part of a service due to the issues with blocked drains on these cars

...mmm, I agree. The rear spoiler drains are not that easy to get to for inspection. The Bentley service instruction is more for cleaning out the drains
on the bulkhead and water in the fuel filler. However, I would have thought they would check spoiler operation and a quick inspection of the drains carried out.

On a personal thought, has the repair carried out fixed the steaming up. From my knowledge, I would have thought the fault to be with the heater operation and a defective flap motor reather than a small dampness in the boot?

Hope this helps

The repair seems to have fixed it though I think there may still be water by the fuel filler.I would go and check but the car is at the dealer having the tyre monitor system fixed

Hi Blackpool Rocker. Thanks for your advice regarding the bonnet catch. I had a good look and discovered that the catch was not holding on the near side. Too gentle I`m afraid. A good firm push and problem solved.
I`ve still got an issue on the infotainment system. On the A/C button I get the message. "Access to Air conditioning temporarily unavailable". A similar message appears on the TRIP.The car is a 2004 with 42000 miles. Full Bentley service. I bought the car at a very favourable price after it was unused for some time. For specific reasons I cannot contact the former keeper to find when this fault developed. We have connected it to OBD; but there is no response.Do you have any ideas. Regards.

A full tank of fuel has resolved the issue

The fault on my GT Air con has been resolved. Like any other computerised system--- just switch it off( disconnect the battery in my case) and switch it back on again and - Hey Presto! everything works fine.
I gather from reading some tecnical data that on these twin battery set ups; if one battery goes low the control unit can shut down some of the facilities to enable the car to be started. These systems then have to be initialised once the batteries are healthy again. There is a bit of work initialising things like the windows; rear spoiler; seats etc, but its all in the handbook, so quite simple.

Taking advantage of your offer of help, I am trying to take the centre console out of my 94 Bentley Turbo R to replace the a/c motherboard thingy. The excellent ASSIST manual says "Using a suitable tool, unscrew and remove the mirror escrutcheons taking care not to damage the polished surfaces."

So what would be a suitable tool then? I've tried a socket with rubber face but it doesn't seem to get enough friction to unscrew. Does it unscrew? Not just a push fit?

Thanks
Adrain

There is water pooling around the fuel filler in my continental GT but I can't see an obvious drain, any ideas how to solve this?

I also have a bonnet open warning light despite the bonnet being closed, any suggestions?

Disappointed that the blocked drain wasn't dealt with at a service a couple of weeks ago, the bonnet light has come on since then.

..There is a drain in the fuel filler cap area of the GT. It can get easily blocked with dirt and debris. The best thing to do is to replace the
pipe to one of a larger bore, but to do this you will need to remove the wheel arch liner of access.

Hope this helps.

Making sure the badge was fully depressed before closing the bonnet cured the warning light.

I'll see if I can find and unblock the drain.

Thanks for the help.
