hello can any body tell me in the uk why the used car market is so popular when it comes to rolls royce and bentley cars i watch the market all the time but what i find interesting is when im looking on autotrader why is it that there are so meny rolls royce silver seraphs sold more than there are phantoms i like both cars but i would have thought that the phantom would be more popular i wonder what makes a person by a seraph and another person by a phantom

I think Phantoms appeal to the more literate

Hi Joe, welcome to PH.

The Seraph is an older car that was in production from 1998 to 2002, 1570 were built. The Phantom is a newer and much more expensive car. The Seraph is considerably cheaper secondhand than is a Phantom secondhand simply because they are an older and different car.

Far more Phantoms have been built, from 2003 to date, than Seraphs, probably over 6000 by now. But a used Phantom is going to cost many times more than a used Seraph.

thank you to balmoral green i understand that the phantom is more modern and the seraph being that bit older but what i can not grasp is why would a literate person buy a phatom i would have thought that you would have the means to by either of the cars shorley a literate person could just as easiley perchase a seraph

So do I, fortunately I also have a computer with a spelling and grammar checker wink

In answer to your question, more Seraphs are for sale with none main dealers, who tend to advertise singly on the autotrader website, whereas Phantoms, being predominantly within the main dealer network, tend to be advertised in bulk adverts. Coupled with a large number of phantoms still being with their first owners, no doubt due to lease agreements and the lack of a newer model to trade up to, results in less hits, when searching the traders website or flicking through the magazine

i see where you are comeing from so i guess some seraph owners would move up to a phantom and most phatom owners would not want to i guess sell there cars as there is nothing to move up to it answers my question because to be honest i think i could find what i would want now thank you for sending me your answer

I'm sorry about your dyslexia but plenty of other people here have it yet write perfectly coherent posts. Glad you got the answer you were looking for though.
