This company

http://www.pmcuk.com/performancemodsdetail.asp?pro...

Is offering an upgrade or "ECU Remap" to Bentley's standard Continental 04 to 09 models for £3000 which can apparantly see huge increases in torque and a boost from 552bhp to anywhere between 652 and 672bhp!

Does anyone have any experience with them, or of ECU Remapping in general! Is there anyone offering such a thing cheaper? (as I presume its just a matter of plugging in a computer with their preset settings and hey presto? - quite a profitable thing to resell?)

Sorry im an absolute amateur at this stuff! Any help or past experiences/advise appreciated!

Phantom have a superb reputation and are widely ackmowledged as one of the best non franchised dealers and service facility. They are also well known on the racing circuit with Turbo Rs.

Thoroughly reccommended.

Simon & Stuart at Phantom are very good.

I take my car to them for servicing & maintenance, all the way from Derby. I wouldn't go anywhere else. There are many on this forum who think very highly of them.

Don't expect a posh showroom though or fine china for a cuppa smile

No experience of their upgrades, but their service / knowlege, especially of Turbo Rs, is first rate. If they say 672 bhp, they mean it.

GIAC Bentley Continental GT Software
GIAC is the first company in the world to flash the Bentley® Continental GT® through the OBD port.

We feel opening up an ECU and replacing the chipset is not a practial way of enhancing your Bentley.

This 'flash' product includes three settings (OEM, Performance, and Immobilizer) and the Flashloader Handheld device for switching the settings. As the Continental GT® relies on two controllers for engine management, synchronizing them for the flash and for the program switching was definitely an impressive task.

Currently the GIAC performance program for the Continental GT® produces 100-114 hp and 120-130 ft-lbs of torque extra, 95-98 octane dependent.

Boost is increased from .5 to .9 bar in the mid range and from .5 to .8 in the high rpms. During development knock, knock correction, air fuel, boost, and waste gate duty cycle and many other parameters were closely monitored as with all GIAC performance program development.

The worlds most popular Bentley Software and still the only to be OBD programmable, without the need for ECU removal.

Please Note: Included in this price is programming of the car at your door anywhere in the UK.

Price: £3,914.89 (Including VAT at 15%)

Big money though aren't they? if that was any other VAG remap, it would be £500 tops, and that would be for something like a high end BSR PPC job.

For the performance increase they are not that much. You have to consider development time AND what happens if something goes wrong.
If you want expensive look at

Have you got the dyno charts for that? be interesting to see where it makes the extra 200bhp. Would also be interesting to see if VW/Bug simply refuse to service the car afterwards (seem to remember they had some very agressive warranty terms and discourage anybody tinkering with their cars)

And the offering from Superchips, "only" a 44bhp and 94nm gain smile for £978 with a bluefin OBD2 thingy (so you can change it back to normal before a service)

I just came across this old thread as I am looking for some new upgrades for my GT. This company has probably never driven a Bentley, Andrew, let alone have a dyno sheet for one they've personally tuned. About a year ago I had Superlative Autosport USA program my Bentley GT and it's quicker than my friends Supersports now. Their website says they have a location in the UK, i'd recommend them to anyone who wants their Bentley programmed. Mine was programmed on a 4WD Dyno Dynamics and they produced Mustang Dyno and Dyno Jet charts of previous cars they had programmed and dyno'd when I was originally inquiring about the tune. They really know the high end vehicle software game, there were 2 Gallardos, a 550 Ferrari, 458 Italia and my GT at their location the day I had my car programmed. It was a simple OBD flash which took a little over an hour or so. Difference is night and day from the factory software! It's so fast now, it's like a rocket! A well worthwhile upgrade to step our GT's up into the Supersports performance but still keeping the 2 rear seats.

Best Wishes,

JNF

Just looked on their site, here is the link to the software I got:

http://www.superlativeautosport.com/products/bentl...

The actual dyno numbers were a lot more than the ones quote, I think when I asked when i had mine tuned why they didn't quote the higher obtained numbers they said it was a safeguard for countries with terrible fuel and some other reasons I don't remember. I'll try and pull out my dyno and post it up for everyone.

Hi there, I run a business called British Automotive Developments, we were at the Tatton Hall Classic cars show this weekend where we bumped into 2 of our customer with Conti GT's who have had our remaps and who told us how happy they were with the results. We also took our Jaguar XKR and Range Rover TDV8 which have all been mapped and we offer up all of the cars for demonstration so you can try them and feel the difference for yourself.

My own car is a Bentley Continental GT which has been remapped and we have remapped tens up on tens of others (most customer have send me a testimonial confirming that they are very impressed with our work, bhp/torque gains as well as economy gains).

We offer a pre-dyno run, followed by a remap through the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) port followed by another dyno run for £899. We use a 3000bhp, 4 wheel drive rolling road and our maps are insurance backed by the bank and come with a lifetime guarantee and warranty. We also have a 30 day price promise where if you are not happy with the results we revert the car back to it's original state of tune and refund you your money back.....we put our money where our mouth is. It's important for me to note again that our remaps do not involve us removing and taking apart your ECU they are done through the OBD port.

I'm a member of a well know super car club and many of the other owners have had maps through us and will testify that they are very happy with the results. I'm also a member of various owners clubs and my business partner Rob Chalmers races Caterhams so again we can provide a lot of testimonials from people with good knowledge of cars and our work.

Regardless of who you use I would strongly recommend a remap on a Conti if only for the fuel gains. They're a big car and sometimes the perception of speed can be lost on them in comparison to other GT cars but the extra torque from a remap gives them a low down urge that brings back that feeling of speed lost in a standard car.

I hope this helps and I wish you look which ever way you go.

Kind regards,

Colin

Guys just wanted to let other Bentley owner know as well as software there are some new upgrades on the market for the Bentley as well to boost power even more. I recently had the Superlative Autosport Performance Intercoolers installed as well as their Adjustable Sway Bar Upgrade (Anti Roll Bars in GB) and Lowering Module installed in addition to the software I already had. The techs actually revised the software to take in to consideration my new mods for no extra charge which I liked! The car performs even better now than it did before which was already extremely fast and powerful, but now as well as power it handles absolutely great now, the sway bars which are upgraded front and back help with cornering traction immensely! Way better than my buddys Supersport model which is impressive as I have not removed any weight! There isn't anything I have come across yet that will keep up with me and god damn does the 4wd help off the lights! When I purchased the parts off Superlative Autosport the salesman also mentioned they have a few development cars running around with Superlative Autosport Bentley Continental GT twin turbo upgrade packages on, both in the US and UK, he said this upgrade will be available soon and the numbers he spoke about were crazy. In my opinion these are hands down the most experienced Bentley tuning company in the world and by the sounds of it are home to the worlds fastest Bentleys and I want one! Here is a pretty cool video I found on their site www.superlativeautosport.com for the ECU tuning they do on the Bentley W12 twin turbo:
