I saw a colour promo film a few years ago that was made in the mid fifties, it involved an archetypal English schoolboy (uniform, accent posh enough to make the Queen sound common) looking through the showroom window longingly at the RR & Bentley cars, and ended with a high speed ride in an S type with a salesman.
