Geting To Know The Turbo R
Discussion
Guys these are not your average cars and Im getting to know its eccentricities however a few queries if anyone could help.
It "ticks" when cold but goes after a few mins - is this a concern ?
I have had conflicting answers on this but on a 97 should the small light switch area near the key slot have any illumination for the light switch (mine doesnt) but the wiper bit does
I have a Bentley keyfob alarm it occasionally says "sensor bypassed" and makes a mid loudness sound of three chinks not the normal on / off low chink - whats that ?
It has what looks like a Blaupunkt head / cd changer which after 12 years has seen better days, is anything a simple swap over using the same changer ?
Apart from that its got a sticky mech on the offside rear door and a slightly loose seat fixing (feels a lot worse than it is) both of which will be sorted next week.
I have used the car every minute of every day since getting it apart from a trip to Liverpool where I knew I couldnt park it (tight NHS car park) Ive even gone to Anfield in it (where there were a few others in the car park that I had never noticed) and Im over the moon I really am - touch wood I have motoring satisfaction for £20k

Dave,
All seem to be fair simple fixes and glad to hear you’re having fun
The CD changer would probably benefit from simply removing and going over to a modern Blaupunkt cd/mp3 player with built in bluetooth / handsfree.
Can point you in the direction of a couple of people locally who can do this for you if you don’t feel like tackling it yourself

Please do Andrew - cablex ?
Are they all "tappety" from cold ? or could it be something else
Most of the ones I've had anything to do with were, but that shouldnt be taken as gospel as on the whole they havent been the best examples. Are they all "tappety" from cold ? or could it be something else
As for the new sound system - have recently been taking cars to http://www.car-connection.co.uk/on the dock road in Seacombe with good results (have also used Cablex in the past, nothing bad to say about either of them) CC are also good if you need or want upholstery work doing in the future (maybe an idea to get them to look at the central locking and alarm)
Thanks Andrew, the mech from Glannigans (or something like that) is picking it up on tuesday they are in Rochdale and do all the London dealers Northern work
Everything i mention will be done apart from upgrades of course
I may take the DB9 to car connection to revitalise the cream leather, its a bit creased

The tapping noise will be possibly one of the hydraulic tappets ,they tend to leak down whilst the vehicle is not running for a longer period of time and nothing to really worry about with it onl tapping for a short time.
