Cont. Flying spur or Merc S600!?!
Discussion
So given that you can purchase either a 2006 or so Bentley Continental Flying Spur and a 2007 or later Mercedes S600 for around 85-90K USD which would you take?
Obviously the Bentley is the first choice but then when you start really thinking about each car....
The Merc has everything as standard. While the Bentley does not have nearly as much standard and most of the used cars aren't fully loaded. like radar cruise control, keyless entry, reclining rear seats, etc. So really the Merc has a case for itself.
However the Bentley is a Bentley and it probably drives better, it is AWD, more HP.

I run a Spur on my chauffeur fleet and love it as do my clients. The S Class is a great car too but you don't need more than the 500. Performance for both cars is shocking considering their size. The ride comfort some say is better in the Merc but some clients say they get car sick in the Merc. Spacewise they are similar though the boot on the Merc is on the small side.
But above all, a bentley is a bentley and you need know nothing more.

In my opinion the S600 is a pointless car. Yes it has lots of toys as standard, but when a S320 CDi does everthing exactly the same and a lot cheaper. No brainer really, especially as its not a drivers car. Driven both and seem are just as good as each other, well almost. Last month I done nearly a 1000 miles in a S320 CDi (a year old car) in a week while on holiday comfortable and classy, but really looks like a minicab (all it needed was a pco badge.) I have a GT coupe but really should have bought a Spur as more practical with kids. But just prefered the looks of the coupe and the fact its smaller. My opinion a Spur, S600 may be hard work trying to move it on later. How many peolpe would really want a V12 S-class as it aged?

couldnt have put it better myself!

If you want exclusivity -then pick the S600.Spur is very good - but world and wife seem to have one - but still far far better than having breeze block Rapmobile Phantom
If it's gadgets you're after - best go for a Lexus LS600
Why is the Spur better than the Phantom? If it's gadgets you're after - best go for a Lexus LS600

Can't say that has been my experience. I do about 18,000 miles a year and I can honestly say I have only ever seen two Spurs on the road in the last 5 years, and there is a Bentley dealer in my nearest city too.Bentley have sold more 100k cars than any other car maker in history.
