Fixing the Scorpion 758 alarm on a Mulsanne S?
Discussion
First post on here, and it has to be about this....*shakes head* Some background - I posted this on the OcUK motors forum, they suggested posting it here.
A friend of mine bought a 1989 Bentley Mulsanne S towards the end of last year, and I've been helping him with some of the jobs it needs doing. One of the major ones is getting the remote locking and alarm setup working.
The alarm is a Scorpion 758. If I put the key into the unit to turn it on, the car locks (as it should) and immobilises (also as it should) but the indicators light up and stay lit (rather than just flash on and off). The remote also does nothing once the car is in that state. You have to turn the alarm unit off again with the key and reset the central locking (there's a button to do this next to the fuse panels below the glove compartment) to do anything with the car.
I think the same unit was fitted to the Mercedes 190E of around the same year, so I guess it isn't specific to Bentley. Long shot I know, but has anyone ever come across one who can tell me a) what might be wrong or b) whether or not there is a newer unit that can directly replace it?
