Took delivery of mine on 1st March - Tempest Silver with beluga, dark tint alloys and dark alu dash. Love the car, sounds amazing with a very deep throb at idle. The most plush, luxurious car I've ever owned. Running in advice is no more than half throttle for 900 miles so still waiting to open it up properly.
It fits the kids in fine whereas the 997 C4S that it replaced was struggling with rear space. I tried all the usual 2+2 alternatives but this blows them away - Evo, Car, Autocar, Fifth Gear were all spot on!
How do you rate it against the Porsche then?It fits the kids in fine whereas the 997 C4S that it replaced was struggling with rear space. I tried all the usual 2+2 alternatives but this blows them away - Evo, Car, Autocar, Fifth Gear were all spot on!
I love the kid's seat!
I've always rather had a soft spot for the Conti GT. Criticised for being lardy but it's wonderfully luxurious, goes like utter stink, is (seemingly) very reliable and definitely could be used everyday as it has proper legroom in the back on top of the 4wd etc. I also think that in the correct shade it looks stunning: real presence, a fella near me owns a dark grey one and it looks terrific. I don't really see it as having any direct rivals, frankly. The GT Speed is just the icing on the cake.
And if I really was lucky enough to own one I'd much rather spend my daily grind in that interior than pretty much anything else - only an Arnage/Azure/Brooklands does more to me and I wouldn't use any of those 'every day'...
Beautiful car, Black Lamb, hope you enjoy it. Immaculate garage/paddock too!

Black Lamb, you have a lovely car there. Can you answer a couple of questions for me:
1. Do you have the Ceramic brakes and if so, do you notice a difference to drive?
2. Do you think they are good value for money?
3. Do you mind advising how much that Bentley child seat retails for?
Many thanks

...I am considering picking one up myself so therefore, though I cannot answer definitively:1. Do you have the Ceramic brakes and if so, do you notice a difference to drive?

(a) the Bentley dealer expressed the view that the carbon brakes were not advisable unless one drives the car really hard; if mainly for town use, he suggested that the ceramics squeak too much as they take too long to get up to temp. Basically, since the Speed comes fitted with the largest brakes ever for a production car, just save yourself 10 grand.
(b) You will lose shedloads of money if you buy new (less depreciation on RHD than LHD, mind you...) Value for money-wise? One of the TV programs that reviewed it, referred to it as 'the cheapest 200mph+ car you can buy today'. In that respect, it is great value. In reality (viz daily life) you will actually be getting a FANTASTIC car with a wonderful interior and quality of manufacture (MUCH better than modern Aston and almost any of the competition). The real competitor, in my opinion, is the 612 Scaglietti, which is even more expensive - and I think I prefer the Bentley anyway.
(c) no idea! lol
Hope this was helpful
PS. unofficially (i.e. this might just be some marketing puff by my Bentley dealer) I was told that the Conti Speed has been tested by Bentley to almost 240mph, at which point the gearboxes were packing in... hows that for a supercar, eh?)
Thanks, it is interesting to get different perspectives on the brakes.
I am currently driving an 06 Gallardo, but I am seriously thinking about changing it for a Continental GT speed after the summer as we have a new baby on the way. With a new addition to the family, I think I would get more use out of a GT speed than the Gallardo.
Does anybody know roughly what the waiting lists are like for the speed?
Thanks.
