Does anyone know when the SUV will be announced? Will it be the same platform as the Porsche/VW/Audi? What engines?

A friend (who has had a Conti GT) has one on order. When he bought the GT he ordered all four (GT, the four door, GTC and the 4x4), he's not the kind of person to bullshit.

Apart from the several faux 4x4's made for the Sultan of Brunei, and the 4 wheel drive Turbo R estates that have been cobbled together, there are no plans for a properly engineered Bentley 4x4 SUV on any of the VAG platforms, and certainly not on the old school platforms. VAG are, i'm quite sure, happy to explore and exploit any niche markets, but not at the expense of the brand overall. It would be like Ferrari introducing a budget 5 door diesel hatchback, yes, it would sell for sure, but that's not the point. Bentley is reasonably safe in VAG hands, and this is something they would not do.

I took an order once for a Joyster at the Earls Court Motor show, the customer insisted, despite it being just a concept. Nothing ever came of it.

Why would they make an uber-luxury SUV when they had their fingers burnt with the Porsche Cayenne, no competition for it.

I think you'll find that the Cayenne makes a lot of money.

Why? Because its a Porsche Chelsea tractor and all the Mums want to look cool, yes there are a few men that drive them to look cool, why not buy a 911?
