Saw what looked like a convertible RR Phantom driving in Berkshire the other day; bright red, roof down, trade plates. Absolutly massive, caused a wake like a power boat as it cruised past! I saw the one-off convertible couple of years ago at Goodwood Festival of Speed but didn't realise they'd actually gone into production with it! scratchchin Rich...

Yeah, we all know about 'that' car and it's windscreen carved out of a single block of unobtainium or whatever... this was the one I saw at Goodwood 2 and half years ago. I was wondering if it's now in production?

I believe, from a well placed source, that it is in production. But at what stage, I have no idea.

Saw EX100 in 2004 at the Geneva Show, and the Festival of Speed. It knocked me for six.

Lucky fellow (RichB) seeing Phantom DH coupe in the flesh. Only if you took pics and posted it on the forum!!

I will be seeing it on Tuesday at the Geneva Show.

yes Bit trickey that would have been as I was driving towards it at the time. Still if you see a bright red one at the show, that'll be it Rich...

the Drophead has been in production for about 4 months now and should be on sale pretty soon, was launched at Detroit show in jan 07, and it looks remarkable akin to the EX100 concept car

its not called the Corniche however

its called the Drophead and features a unique steel bonnet where they had to ask the De Lorean chaps (well the ones not in prison) about the steel, in fact i think RR bought a de lorean to study the stainless steel properties before deciding to put a stainless steel bonnet on the Drophead. It has these unique suicide doors that swing the opposite way too.

also they have this beechwood canopy at the back and a unique fishtail seat at the back, i think it looks devine but however i am about 250k short of the £250k asking price

It's the 'Groucho Marx' funny eyebrows, glasses and nose it's wearing that spoil it, the rest is marvellous. I particulalry like the suicide doors and the decking.

This is a fantastic looking machine.

I like the thick 1/4 light glass next to the windscreen, it reminds me of a WW2 fighter canopy. Doubt it was intentional though, more like a 'must have' to protect the old noggin if one was to find oneself the wrong way up with 3 tons of car strapped to your arse. At 150 mph.

I'm surprised it is 'only' £250k - since the standard Phantom is that price - I assumed £300k for this beast.

I don't think the decking is actually on the production model...
