got my first roller, 84 spur,
unfortunately no handbook,

how do I get the heated rear windscreen on I know its supposed to come on automatically but what are the exact settings I have to have on to achieve this,

what position do I need the switch stating AUTO / FACIA ON ?

what position has the main blower switch have to be on ??

p.s checked fuse and its ok.

Also I can't get main beam to stay on it comes on when indicator stalk pulled towards me but goes off as soon as i let it go,Any advice gratefully received.

Last thing, where can I get a handbook at a sensible price or is it available anywhere on cd/dvd ?????
Thanks in advance for any help.

You might find one from some of the independant spares specialists, or at a RREC club rally, or in the back of the RREC advertiser that comes with your membership if you join up. You might also get one on e-bay.

I think it is fully automatic, with no controls or settings. My Turbo R is the same.

Presumably this is on the heating/ventilation controls? AUTO will just do everything on automatic climate control, FASCIA wacks it all onto the screen for a quick defrost/demist, I think, might be wrong there though.

Not sure I follow you? either on AUTO or whatever manual speed you want it, I, II, or III.

It should come on as you nudge towards you, nudge towards you again to turn off. I dont think it is a push away job. Might be a faulty relay.

Workshop CD's are available on e-bay, I got one from the USA for $20.

Cheers,

Warren.

My RT has the later bits

Rear windscreen is fully automatic -- if the car thinks it needs demisting, it will switch it on

The right hand switch has recirc on the left, automatic in the middle and the right hand position switches everything to the round vents

The left hand one has off, econ (no aircon compressor I guess?) low fan speed, auto, high speed fan, and demist. In demist, it routes evrything to the screen and probably turns on heated rear as well

Doh! of course it does, thanks Jon.

I reckon the ventilation controls will be different to our cars though.

Does the car have an ice warning/external temp function? It may be the auto rear window switch is run through that circuit. You could give Simon or Stuart a call at pmcuk.com for advice, or they could fix if for you if you arent a DIY'er.

Just seen you are in Scotland, so pmcuk is a no.

If the main beam does not stay on when the main h'lamp switch is on and you select main beam by pulling on the stalk. The headlamp latching relay needs replacing, this is quite a common fault. A plastic fulcrum inside it will have melted, preventing it latching on to main beam, but h'lamp flash works.
