I thought i'd post this in this forum too, might get more appreciation, or not!

So there i was, needing a car to go to a wedding on New Year's Eve at Orchardleigh House in Somerset.

Pretty swish country house, hangover expected on NYD, so what car to get from e25? Only one choice really, the Bentley Continental GT.....

552bhp, 4wd, and the best interior i've ever sat in. Unbelievable car.

First off, the looks. I think it looks amazing. Very imposing, but still very Bentley, and that front end really makes people move out of the way when you come up behind them with the brightest lights in existence on (man, they really are bright, maybe too bright in all honesty...).

This car really does make you change the way you drive. You just, well, 'waft' everywhere. Auto box smoothing the changes almost impercievably, 4wd and TCS taking control of the bad weather, and incredible suspension isolating you from our terrible roads.

But then, oh then, you sink your foot into the deep carpet and your internal organs all try to mate with the sumptuous leather seatbacks. The performance and noise of this thing is incredible. For 2+ tonnes of metal, it really shifts, and handles really tidily too. I can't honestly think of a car that would do the job of a daily car any better. Huge boot, proper 4 seater, amazing interior, good safe handling, epic performance when needed.

I'l probably have a Conti GT and a 997GT3, and that'd do me.

Anyhoo, here are a few more pics:

Odd how it really doesn't look green at all in the metal, but does in these pics....

edit: sorry i didn't bother cleaning it, but i had the aforementioned hangover, and couldn't really be arsed!

How would you compare it to anything else along similar lines you have driven?

I have to agree with your comments, apart from the mention of the Porker, but then I'm biased!

I still think the interior is a disappointment -- *far* too many plastic switches.

You're probably the only person to think so Jon. The GT has been pretty much universally praised for the luxury of the cabin.

And then then mention the Audi/VW center console... etc etc etc

Where are the proper turned-metal thumbwheels for the aircon? the gorgeous little chromed knobs for the switches? Sure, it has the eyeball vents (but even they arent right) and organ stops, but thats about it.

Leave it Jon, he's not worth it. Lets just wander over to the 'Club' corner and grumble together over a warm pint hehe

I reckon the Conti interior is fab myself, but it would have cost very little extra to have sorted out the few item of switchgear that do let it down. Might be a good aftermarket opportunity there I reckon.

Spot on, you'd think they could have cobbled together a little something to replace the dialler wouldnt you? 1st time I looked inside a Phantom, it was fantastic, then I clocked the i-drive and let out an audible groan. Whatever happened to 'attention to detail' it used to be their byword.

Unless of course it was left obvious on purpose, as a reminder of who owns RR now, and to keep Tommy in his place.

Thing is the build quality isn't what it should be. I have a had a few now and all of them have had new grilles. In all of them the i drive jams and wont open wether it be front or back. All of them have a loose centre panel whatever wood its in. The bit they do get right is they sort it out at no expense spares. 2006 ones come with new rear suspenstion and they have retro fitted this to all ones built before then. they replace items for minor things like a light a blemish that might even be a watermark! thats te part of RR that i like. The i drive wouldnt be so bad if it was a solid steelremote with some weight but its flippin plastic!

Cheers all, i completely forgot about this thread, as i posted one over in GG as well.

Thanks Sharief, i aim to please!

I personally think the Conti GT interior is amazing, especially for a £120k car. It feels like 5 times that when you're driving it....

www.ecurie25.co.uk have the Conti GTC now, in black/black with 20" wheels - can't wait to drive it!!!
