Can anyone help in directing me to finding information on a phantom 3. The car is in a sorry state but, thankfully, somebody has come to her rescue. The engine has been rebuilt at some time, but is missing bits. The rest now needs doing now. A moth family have quiet happily eaten the interior, coz it was wool. The chassis is superb and the brakes still work. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

These folks are very good with cars like a Phantom III, people from all over the world send their cars for restoration.

Ristes Motor Co Ltd., Gamble Street, Nottingham, NG7 4EY.

No website, and quite right too!

Fantastic car and engine. Would love one with one of the more compact bodies and lots of art deco features.

The phantom 3 is truely a superb car.. The V12 engine is unique to the model and must be a super smooth.. Hydrolic tappets, etc ad to the complication, slightly but when running it must be super smooth.. It was made at the time when the more cylinders you had the more exclusive a car became.. Remember the V16 Cadillac.
Any way, tell us how its evolving and I hope to hear it will be back on the road and wofting along.. Im sure the top speed must be pretty high.. Keep us informed

Just an update really, The engine is partially stripped, more to be removed tomorrow. Most of the rear interior is stripped, the roof was a bit of a bugger to strip out. The wood frame is in brilliant condition generally, no wood worm!!!!

The mechanical side is a bit slower, lots of conflicting reports about things, so we are learning as we go along. Getting parts does seem to be easy at the moment, costly but easy. This old girl shall run again, i'm sure. We will keep you all posted if your interested that is?

Yes please. You could do a web diary on the restoration as time goes on? I'm sure it will be a reminder for many years to come.

Try www.boddice.co.uk. Stephe is a contact of mine and his car is a wonderful site. He rebuils most of it himself and it won concours at the RREC rally last year. His book details how to restore the engine.
A member of my RREC section spent an estimated £250k on a concours rebuild at www.alpineeagle.co.uk/ and is on the front page of their website. IT took 18 months!
