Get more boost for your Bentley

Add 80bhp to your Flying Spur or GT

Got a Bentley that’s not quite quick enough? AWE Tuning is offering what it calls switchable software from GIAC for the Bentley Continental GT and Flying Spur. The comp claimed to be the first company to flash both turbocharged Bentleys and offer multiple programs.

This product includes three settings (OEM, Performance, and Immobilizer) and the GIAC Flashloader Handheld device for switching the settings. You do not need to be a technician to switch programs. You plug the GIAC Flashloader Handheld into the OBD2 port and select the program you want. According to AWE, it means an additional 80hp and 90lb/ft of torque at the flick of a switch, and it’s easily reversible to the standard settings.

The technology

The GIAC program is claimed to produce an extra 80-100 horsepower and 90-120lb/ft of torque on 91 to 93 octane. Higher octane fuels, as typically found in Europe, will yield even greater results. It works by increasing boost from 0.5 to 0.9 bar in the mid range and from 0.5 to 0.8 in the higher rev ranges. According to the company, during development, knock correction, air fuel, boost, waste gate duty cycle, and many other critical parameters "were closely monitored".

Dyno plots are available along with more information on the company’s site.

You can get these for the older models too. 1500 euros takes my old Turbo R from 328 to 500bhp. Would love to do it, but I wouldnt trust it as far as I could push the car, uphill.

How do they manage to increase the bhp by over 50% for around a grand?
Shorely shome mishtake?
