My father is buying a Continental GT and I was wondering if there is anything we should know before taking the plunge? or perhaps any extras people consider essential?

We have driven 2 so far and the specs are very similar. The 'coming home' feature and 19 inch wheels the only differences.

I should add that it is an awesome machine and I can't wait to borrow it!

Any advice/opinions welcome, good or bad.

Hi,

I bought mine in December after a bit of a search. Some colours will aleays sell better than others. Diamond Black with Portland hide are a bit scarce. On dark colours make sure that there are no swirl marks due to inappropiate washing/polishing. Make sure the wheels are unmarked. The newer car could have a lower spec due to the way the cars were priced at launch and subsequent increases. In my hunble opinion they are fantastic cars. Good hunting!

Don't forget that these days they are not holding their value at all. In fact they are becoming a bit of a depriciation nightmare.
So make you you do not pay top dollars for one.

Cheers guys, the deal is done now.

Ended up with a Cyprus Green 2004 car with only 6,000 miles.... looking forward to picking it up next week.

Good choice, nice colour and good luck.

I have access to the trade and they don't see any more or less depreciation than on most good marques---indeed, some colours and specs are fetching real good money. Autocar is still showing 58% residual after three years and there are very very few motors making that!

Enjoy your good fortune.

Had the car for a while now and very happy with it. Makes a great rumble...

As for the depreciation, they do seem to be holding up ok at the moment. The value will fall a great deal over the next few years but its about having fun now, not money in the bank when you're dead!

I know exaclty what you mean, just got mine very recently, dont know how long I can afford to keep it(probably not very long £220 on petrol for 3 days so far!) but im going to enjoy every second. Bentleys are one of the best cars in the world and worth every penny IMO.

There was high production in the early days which caused over supply and depreciation. With the introduction of the GTC for which there is understandably huge demand they are scaling back GT production drastically, so I think that second hand values are going to firm. Could you stretch to a Mulliner? Looks good.
