CONTINENTAL GT's why does everyone hate them??
Discussion
what is it with the continental gt's that people hate??
personally i think they are lovely with the vw background should be reliable what more has the engine they have the boot they have the luxury they have and 4 seats???
ok a db9 looks better but doesnt have the room of the cgt and seems to be very unreliable.
just wondered why people hate them as there is a conti v db9 thread on the am forum and people seem to dislike the cgt?

Well I like mine! I had a test drive of DB9 before I bought the Bentley. I think that the DB9 is a pretty car with a lovely cockpit & until my test drive it was my dream car. However, I didn't like the gear box in the 9 and in my opion the Bentley is a superior drive and is better engineered and has a better finish. Of course, one's mans meat etc.

I dont know anyone who hates them either, and I know a hell of a lot of Bentley folks. The main bone of contention amongst Bentley afficianados' is not the vehicle itself, which is fantastic, but the branding. And that is a whole different argument. All Bentleys since 1931 are badge engineered to a degree anyway, and the RR relationship developed and evolved over many decades. The rather abrupt split recently, and subsequent platform sharing with the new parent company does not sit well with many folks, that's the only beef I am aware of. Cant say I have come across anyone who slates the vehicle itself. Although I would rather have a proper badge engineered Bentley, which is why I drive a Rolls Royce Silver Spirit with a Turbo and hard suspension and round shouldered rad
Phaeton thingys are OK, with the correct badge

Unfortunately, they seem to have got a bit of a "premiership footballer" image.
A great shame because they are a really wonderful car.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate the conti GT, but i'm certainly not a fan. I guess I just find them a bit bland (rather than understated) as far as luxury motors go.
When I see a Bentley of the same era as Balmorals they seem to me that there is a real sense of occasion that the Conti GT lacks. When I leave work and walk past my bosses GT it doesn't draw my attention like the older models do.
For me out of the new "British" luxury cars, the Rolls is just so much better (I know its a different league price-wise). It just has the wow factor that the Bentley lacks.

I will never own a Bentley or Rolls Royce, i don't suppose, but for me, the Bentley Continental and Flying Spur are great cars. The latter was descibed in one road test as '205 mph in your lounge, with 3 friends present'.
Badge/platform snobbery aside, these cars are the best Bentley make.
The ridiculously overpriced and less powerful Arnage models, at £250,000 or whatever they cost, are poor value in comparison.
I realise that purists will not agree, but there you go.

I have asked around people who CAN afford them, and every single one loves the GT and the GTC.
So,just whom have YOU been talking to if not jealous dreamers who struggle to buy fuel let alone a real car to put it in?
Don't listen to churlish wishwash--all the cars at this level are worthy and I sure wish that I had half a dozen to play with!
