Modern Advice on bentleys vs a Ghost
Discussion
As one gets older I start to appreciate the luxury and comfort of a daily driver.
I went to an A8 D4 gen with the 4.0T v8 petrol as I found the 2006-07 flying spurs to be extremely underwhelming with higher initial cost and long term upkeep.
I am happy with the Audi but Curious on the diminishing returns in terms of noise isolation & ride comfort if I am to switch to a v8 Bentley or a 2011-12 ghost next year with a budget of around 50K pounds as these cars cost as much here in Riyadh, Saudi.
The consensus is that the ghost is a little quieter and softer? I would compare it to a Bentley and test drive them back to back but I am not sure on the actual real world difference between a 1st gen preface lift Bentayaga , facelifted v8 2014 flying spur and a 2011-12 v8 Mulsanne. Adaptive cruise control is a must to prefect the daily luxury not sure if one of these cars has a "bad" or subpar adaptive stop and go in traffic cruise control
If anyone can share insights on driving or owning any of these cars in comparison to one another.
Lastly I get the costs and I am ok to shell money every few months for repairs as long as:
1-There are no potential catastrophic engine failures
2-parts are not discontinued and need insane chasing to find even factory ones (looking at you Bentley GT trunk mechanisms)
3-I won't be stranded on the side of the road "frequently" lets say once a year is the maximum.
4-The car weight and air strut vulnerability is not a big risk (I was told by continental owners that the car weighs 2.2 Tons and big pot holes or speed bumps hits can damage the struts needing replacement\repairs and if the impact is strong enough could destroy it immediately not letting you drive home (one of the reasons why I currently went with the 2 Ton A8 and skipped the continental \ Flying spur )
5- The car does not require heavy labor to replace common stuff such as hose lines or thermostats/water pumps etc like how conti GT's need engine and transmission out for coolant lines or vaccume lines until they rerouted them. It is still labor intensive but I am asking for reasonable. No need for an engine out for a timing chain or tensioner issue because VAG decided to put the chain on the backside of the engine like my 4.0T
from What\watched I read it seems the comfort and noise isolation is ranked from best to "worst" Ghost > Mulsanne > Bentayaga/Flying spur?
Regards.
