Hi All,

After a years of Astons, Range Rovers and other odds and sods, I'm now looking out for a late Gen 2 GTC V8S.

Can anyone out there let me know what if anything I should be looking out for, and should ensure has been carried out maintenance wise etc ?

Having been through a few Astons I know what running costs etc are like, so I'm not that concerned about this, it's more any gotchas that I should be keeping an eye out for whilst I look.

Seen a lovely example at DC Cars in Kent (January 2018 car) which I'm very keen on, so just looking for a bit of advice really.

Also, if anyone can recommend Apple CarPlay fitting in the South East that would also be much appreciated.

Thanks all, and Merry Christmas.

That looks like my old one, but mine had cream arm rests in it.
Problems I had on mine in 40k miles were water pump went (require the front of the car off) and water leaks inside the car which were from a broken rear seal in the hood and also another time for the rear high level brake light.
I'd see if you can lift up the rear seats to check for any water ingress as that's where mine went.
Check wheels and tyres. Also got the driver door handle changed as the locking button went on it, as did the electric steering height adjustment.
Lovely cars, but don't miss the service / repair costs!

The boot motors are made of chocolate and are expensive. Make sure the boot opens and closes properly using the fob.

Check the hood is spot one and working correctly. Scary money.

The magnetic battery chargers can stop working and you don't really want to be using a generic C-Tek. Check it's present and working.

Have a good look at the wheels. They are also made of chocolate and the GT/C Gen 2 is the easiest car to kerb of any car I've owned. Mine has painted wheels so I can do home smart repairs. And do. Once per month on average.

Check the service history for big gaps. Bentleys, for whatever reason, are the worst marque I've come across for missed services. One or two missed ones, if the car was only doing 1k miles per annum is no biggy. Big miles with big gaps is more of a problem.

I would personally always prefer to buy a car like that from a Bentley main dealer. I DID'T but I knew mine had been retailed by Bentley within six months of me owning it. Bentley won't retail a car that they know has issues, indies sometimes will.

Also don't just check if it has been serviced, but what the service was. Too many people just doing a minor service to get the stamp in the book when its the 5year major service to save them £s!

Yep, Bentley happily goes along with it too.
