Hi all, I’m considering a used Bentayga, budget £90-110k.

I’ve never owned a 12 cylinder car and love the idea of massive torque in W12 Bentleys. Sadly, “regular” W12s were discontinued in 2018 and I’d prefer a newer car.

Absolutely important to me is that the ride isn’t crashy. My experience of low profile tyres is that they compromise ride quality on potholes, speed bumps etc (plenty where I live).

3 options I’m considering
A: 2018 W12. Well within budget
B: 2019/20 Speed W12. Newer car which is my preference but I worry that the 22 inch wheels will be a pain around town.
C: 2020/21 V8.

Tempted to go with option B, assuming I can fit used 21 inch wheels over Speed’s calipers (which would surely make the ride much less harsh, and I’d worry less about kerb damage).

Views? Thanks!

I’ve had a couple V8 loaners on 22s and the ride was fine!
My Conti GT is on 22s and is a bit harsh in Sport mode but surprisingly plush in Comfort, handles speed bumps with absolute aplomb.
Think any model or year will be good enough.

Yours is a Continental and not Bentayga but would you say there is enough space around front calipers to fit 21 inch wheels?

Probably not on a Speed which has larger discs, maybe on a regular W12 or V8.

But as I said, ride on 22" wheels is very supple in Comfort mode!

Ive had a V8 and W12 Bentayga and driven a speed.

The V8 is way more fun to drive. The W12 feels as nose heavy as it is but has more straight line grunt.

The speed is just a little faster again but still suffers from the heavy front end.

I think the sports exhaust on the speed would drive me insane after a while.

V8 vs W12 is something I’ve definitely thought about. It’s the massive torque which is very compelling.

Go drive them all?

Buy from a dealer. these things can throw up frankly ridiculous bills without any warning. I wouldn't want to have one without a dealer warranty.

I haven’t looked into warranties yet. On my Porsches I’ve always bought Porsche warranty even when the car hadn’t been bought from a Porsche dealer. Is that not an option with Bentleys? Pay £2000 (or whatever it is on the Bentayga) to Bentley after original 3 year warranty is up, service with the dealer, renew annually, done?

No idea, but youre probably right. It's what theyd require done before warranting it that would scare me.

Warranty is 2800 per annum.

It was a bit more recently on my used Conti GT.
However, having bought two GTs from main dealers in the last 2 years, on both occasions I managed to get a 2nd year warranty free included in the deal.
Worth factoring that in when considering a "non main dealer" car and the price differentials.

Yes 21's will fit on a Speed.

There is no difference in brakes on Bentayga models. This applies to both the standard steel and optional ceramic system.
