Couldn’t find mention of this anywhere on PH

passed away 16th January, aged 78.

Dealt with him for best part of 30 years - butted heads, and laughed hard, and played a big part in my business, for good or ill

Pretty much responsible for making Bentley fashionable in the 80’s as well as AMG Mercs

Probably one of the last real characters on the motor trade.

Did Stratton turn into Stratstone?
I can remember an old car mag( There will never be another month like this) doing a review between the 959 and 288 GTO. Think the Ferrari was his. I thought the Stratton sticker shortened to say Rat in the rear window looked ace....

When the market collapsed in the 90s, Ron sold to stratstone, reportedly for £1.

Stratstone is a trading name for pendragon

Ron then started again and built up a strong business with Rolls Royce, Land Rover franchises, which at one point merged with Ian Anthony Porsche.

Sytner then bought Rolls/Bentley and Land Rover franchises, can’t remember who got Porsche

Just seen this. I did a lot of business with Ron 10yrs or so ago. He was an absolute gent, so humble, so nice.

He'd founded the Manchester Electric Car Company, his plans were truly visionary at the time, and still now.
