battery light

Hi i have just bought a 2004 Bentley continental just recently in the morning the battery light comes on and alternator workshop flashes up but the battery light goes out after a few seconds and stays off till following day if I dont drive it again till following morning, is this a week battery or an alternator. also does the front end have to be taken off to change it

That sounds like the alternator, yes and the front has to come off, I have helped a friend with one, radiator etc. all needs to come off.
