I'm looking at getting into a 2018 bentayga (manufacturer approved)

I do mostly town miles and not that many, which is the engine to go for? Any positives and negatives of each?

Additionally I've decided on a linen interior but cant decide exterior between onyx black or Marlin Blue? I've not seen Marlin blue in person but in images it looks vastly different. Anyone care to comment how Marlin blue looks in real life?

Kindest Regards

If you're doing town miles I'd go W12 for the full experience. The V8 will handle better out in the sticks but the W12 will be more special. Rare too.

You'll be lucky to find a 2018 in blue, let alone with a linen interior but good luck!

W12 is almost silent around town, V8 is a constant (but characterful) burble. When driven hard the V8 sounds better, but the performance of the W12 is something else.

If I drive a V8 I wonder why you need the W12, then I drive a W12 and remember why they are so special!

They are quite different in character so I’d recommend trying both and seeing how the W12 top end performance/town silence v V8 character suits you.

Thanks for the responses

Found a Marlin W12 car, linen interior with City, Touring and Front Seat comfort spec.

Excellent. The comfort option seats with the massage and ventilation are outstanding.

I should add that my Bentayga is a V8 S. Whilst I'm a W12 fanboy, it suits my needs better living out in the sticks.

Im a relative newby on here, but had my W12 around 6 months now, I agree it’s almost silent and power delivery similar to electric with instant waft of torque, but to be honest there are times when a bit of noise & drama wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Does the V8 grumble a bit more because of the exhaust or the motor/tune of the motor?

I think the W12 is a wafter rather than driver focussed, feels really refined, but misses the point of a dynamic ride just a little.

I believe there is an official Akrapovic system for the W12 Bentayga which should improve things. Developed with Bentley and only available from dealers. Not cheap but then nothing is on a Bentley W12. I had the equivalent on my Conti GT Speed and it improved it quite a bit.

The Bentayga V8 S has a standard sports exhaust and sounds a lot better than the regular V8.
