I was just about to pull the trigger on a 2014 GTC V8S, but when causally chatting the dealer told me that the car has no USB ports to so there's no way to stream music from my iPhone to the car (and control it via the cars screen). I was told to use Bluetooth to do that. Problem is, Bluetooth streaming hammers the iPhone battery, and without any USB port I can't charge the phone.

I know there are aftermarket CarpLay options, but I find it hard to believe that a vehicle like this doesn't even have a basic USB socket for charging.

Is this correct ? A car that was £180k just over 7 years ago genuinely doesn't have any way to even charge a phone ?

Any help appreciated, as if I can't even do the basics like charge a phone, then a Gen 2 is clearly not for me.

Could you get a USB to go into the cigarette socket? I have one in the car for my mobile phone (which I have sitting on top of the unused wireless charging pad!)

This is what I do. Double USB thingy in the cigarette lighter inside the armrest, phone stays in there on charge, and you can control Spotify/Apple Music from the touchscreen (only volume and skip back/forward, you need the phone to change playlists)

Sorry to highjack, but I can’t find this answer anywhere!

How can I see the range remaining on the onboard computer?
Can’t seem to find any trip/mpg/range information anywhere!

I do have one of the kits to fit that give this generation proper touchscreen apple car play

Cost around 550 at the time, but open to a cheeky bid if it’s of any use.

Sold the car so not much use to be honest

They look quite tricky to install!
Are they 100% seamless and hidden away?
