Bentley Arnage T 2007 ‘Park not selected fault’

Has anyone come across this fault?
Park is selected but warning comes up and it is not possible to remove key, alarm is sounding. This is the second time it’s done it and it was more difficult to accept it was in park this time by restarting and trying again.
I’m concerned I could drive somewhere and have to return home and disconnect the battery.
On searching there is one other incident of this happening and there wasn’t a solution.
Anyone any knowledge.

I had a similar problem with my 2007 Arnage- could not select park and get the key out of the ignition. It required a new gear change selector and relay- about £1700 via Bentley Harwoods and I seem to recall them saying it took them longer than the estimated time to do so maybe this price was ok! The gear selector was around £500.
