GTC V8S not starting - "Press Brake Pedal"

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this and whether there's an easy fix/reset?

Trying to start the car (either keyless or by inserting the key) the brake warning light on the dash flashes and the binnacle display shows a message "Press brake pedal". Pressing the pedal doesn't cause the message to go away or allow the vehicle to start. Switching the parking brake on/off gives some pedal movement but message remains.

I don't think it's battery related (gets driven relatively regularly and topped up periodically with trickle charger).

If anyone has encountered this before/has any ideas then these would be gratefully received!

I don't have a GTC, but I've had this happen on other cars when the brake light switch on the pedal is either broken or maladjusted.

My suspicion is that it’s probably something along those lines. It doesn’t seem to have resolved itself so looks like we’re going to have to get someone out to look at it (not much choice given the car is locked in P). MrsLT loses confidence quickly in cars if there are reliability issues so hopefully it turns out to be something that can be fixed easily and doesn’t spit an outrageous bill.
